In a band, on the local music scene or interested in local music? Then you would be wise to check out the awesome music showcase website http:// paradiddlesplectrumsandposers.com
set up by a lovely lady called Jayne, whose aim is to promote, help and support great musicians and bands. Whether you need help with promotion, links, guides to studios or rehearsal rooms or radio stations, she runs to go-to website! Here's a bit that she has written about her experience and aims!
Paradiddles, Plectrums & Posers is an indie website based in the South Wales valleys. It’s endorsed by music industry
friends such as Anthrax’s Joey Belladonna, who I’ve known since 1989. I try to keep the standard of music high and
it features some of the best unsigned/indie bands from the UK. There are also US bands featured & more
recently international bands.
The aim of the site is to help promote guitar bands as well as promote
associated businesses and link the bands
with things they may need such as studios or videographers in their area.
Bands have discovered each other via the site too. For example, London rock band Ghosts of Fortune, thanks to PP&P,
are “loving” South Wales’ own Casino Thieves.
The site is not genre specific but does tend to be rock orientated,
from pop/rock like Little Night Terrors
through to heavier rock such as Prosperina.
I work hard to promote the site and thus the bands – no good putting them
on a website that nobody looks at! – and I’ve had press releases in various
papers and also a half page colour feature in established (20+ years) rock
magazine Black Velvet. I’ve also been
able to assist bands with contacts I’ve made, such as putting a Welsh band
planning a mini tour of LA in touch with an LA band manager I’ve got to know. PP&P is nearly 2 years old (December 2013)
and has gained a worldwide audience with an average of at least 2,500 hits per
I’ve also worked more closely with a few of the Welsh bands, such as Swansea’s Tidal & Bridgend’s Milestone, getting airplay in the UK
& the US
for a few of the bands. I am also the
PR person for Casino Thieves & am looking forward to promoting their
excellent new EP ‘The Quiet Road Home’.
